Cigarettes vary among others in size, length and moisture, all factors that can influence the stability of tobacco at the tip of the cigarette. In addition, cigarettes at times travel a long way before they arrive at the end consumer and even there the challenge is not over. Packages are tossed, carried upside down, squeezed and at times tapped on tables, prior to being consumed. All of this can result in a dissatisfied consumer, when opening a pack finding that it is filled with lose tobacco, while the tip of the cigarette is empty. This cannot only influence the perception of a certain brand, but even affect the overall reputation of a manufacturer. Furthermore, one has to consider that in an industry, that is subject to heavy taxation, quality control is an effective tool to cost saving implementation within the production processes.
Borgwaldt KC’s E44 provides a quick quality assurance of the stability of cigarettes ends, in compliance with ISO 3550-1. Its four adjustable chambers, allow to measure tobacco fallout for cigarettes in the ranges of 60mm to 120mm, as well as covering slim and standard cigarettes varying in diameter from 5mm to 9mm.
