Enlarged shop floor at BKC in Hamburg

During the last years Borgwaldt KC GmbH´s production floor was located on 3rd floor of the main building in Hamburg. With changing requirements and production of bigger badges lately more capacity was required. Therefore Borgwaldt KC Hamburg has enlarged its shop floor from 3rd floor to 4th floor. Both levels are now connected via spiral stairs to make the way between both floors shorter and more convenient for shop floor employees.
What started with an idea that was born from necessity ended in a bigger modification of the building. Fourth floor accommodated offices of Borgwaldt KC`s R&D team who had to move to the fifth floor. As the size of the single office rooms was not really suitable for production walls had to be broken down and doors needed to be relocated.
The modification of the Borgwaldt building took over one month until the last work was finished.
Having this additional space for production offers the possibility to manufacture instruments more efficiently by assembling series of up to 10 simultaneously.
