Contrap - the new era in Tobacco Beetle monitoring
04.05.2009
How does a tobacco beetle think? This question surely cannot be answered from or even asked with a scientific background. But it was exactly this challenge the redevelopment of Borgwaldt Flavor's beetle trap was all about. We took our time and after more than one year we presented the new Contrap in late 2008.
The new Contrap has two advantages. It is easier to handle and it is more attractive for beetles. We have redesigned the opening mechanism. Installing the trap and monitoring the caught beetles is even more convenient now. This will save you costs as it saves valuable time when checking the trap. May it be on a daily basis or less frequently, opening the trap and closing it again takes as much time as lightening a cigarette. Another advantage is the improved stability of the trap. Especially when it is used as a monitoring trap while transporting tobacco, a stable trap is an absolute necessity. Sometimes a trap sticks together with the two glued surfaces. Obviously this is a great handicap. Through the new design of Contrap, this is nearly impossible now.
Receiving significant and valuable numbers about the infestation-rate with tobacco beetles. In case you do not belong to the exclusive circle that has strictly no beetles in your warehouse, this is what you expect of a good monitoring trap. The more beetles a trap catches i.e. the greater your random sample is, the greater is the significance and the value of your trap. With the new color and the new shape Contrap attracts observable more beetles than for example its ancestor the old Contrap. This statement is backed by surveys we have made in different surroundings and under different circumstances.
Try the new Contrap and be prepared for an improvement in your monitoring process. By the way the trap works with the corresponding pheromone for moth as well.
