At Borgwaldt KC, we cannot predict the future, but we can prepare our customers for a smooth transition to whatever kind of challenges may lay ahead. With that in mind, BKC has extended its product portfolio for the analysis of cigars.
Diameter/Circumference
DTL (Drop Through Laser) cigar, is a high precision instrument for rapid measurements of circumference/diameter of cigars. The DTL can be adapted to the following ranges in diameter: 5-9mm, 7-11.9mm (for round products), 11-14mm, and 13-19mm respectively.
The unit utilizes 360 degrees single axis scanning and provides as additional features measurement of circumference or diameter, ovality and aspect ratio. Its small footprint (260x340x330mm) and light weight (approx. 10kg) makes the DTL an ideal instrument in a compact environment to conduct rapid measurements (two seconds).
Pressure Drop & Ventilation
In addition, Borgwaldt KC just recently finalized its new development for pressure drop and ventilation, the P10 and V10. This instrument, allows for customized ranges in diameters of 5-9mm and 9-18mm for cigars, filters and cigarettes and measurements of pressure drop (open and closed), filter ventilation and cigar ventilation.
This compact unit is touch screen operated, has a RS232 and USB connection and a foot print of 460x455x255mm. The duration per measurement is approx. 8 seconds. Its “open end” design makes it the ideal instrument for long cigars.
Smoking Results
For smoking analysis of cigars, Borgwaldt KC has been providing the icon of cigar smoking machines, the LM4X. The instrument is well established within the industry and is the most versatile equipment for cigar smoke analysis.
In compliance with CRM65 (Coresta Recommended Method 65) and ISO 4387, this four channel linear machine, allows for independent or synchronized operation of each channel, as it is equipped with four 150ml syringes, four BLCs (Butt Length Control) and four lighters. Furthermore, in addition to standard smoking regimes such as ISO, Massachusetts and Canadian almost all sets of parameters can be established and individually saved per channel, as puff volume, puff duration, piston sweep time of the syringe and puff frequency are flexible for each channel. The range for cigar diameter includes 6.5 – 22.5mm and allows for cigar lengths of 45 and up to 240mm with a minimum butt length of 33mm. The LM4X can also be adapted to smoke cigarettes in accordance with CRM64 and ISO3308.
