Borgwaldt KC’s solution for determination of Triacetin, the OMI+PZ is now ready to measure.
Borgwaldt KC now offers a fast and reliable Triacetin content measurement in freshly produced filter rods directly on the production floor.
Basically the well established standard multi parameter teststation OMI+, which automatically determines weight, size and Pressure Drop will be used, supplemented with a microwave and special software developed by Rhodia, called “Cable”. The microwave cell is designed that the whole length of a filter rod is measured. This allows a representative measurement with a small number of samples.
The enhanced OMI+ for triacetin has been named OMI+ PZ and is now ready to be installed at your production area.
The determination of the standard parameters, together with the Cable software allows a fast and precise calculation of the Triacetin content in filter rods without a need of time consuming high sophisticated instruments and methods. A controlled level of Triacetin avoids the risk of filters with a too high amount of triacetin meltwholes, or a too low level (reduced filter rod hardness) and keeps tar deliveries and taste of a cigarette more constant.
After intensive tests and a great co-operation with Rhodia and TEWS we are happy and proud that we are able to offer the OMI+ PZ with a highly developed precalibration inside. This is valid for a wide range of filter specs, independent from the filter tow specifications, amount of acetate and type of plug wrap paper used.
Under our well designed standard conditions the standard deviation is 3,8 mg.
The OMI+PZ is equipped with a precalibration which should cover triacetin measurement of most of the existing mono filter specs on the market. To allow a higher precision for your production a tailor made calibration of your filter specs can be used.
