New family of multi parameter desktop instruments

21.10.2009

For many years Borgwaldt KC’s desk top instruments for determination of physical parameters are now successfully on the market and have proven to be reliable workhorses in your daily working routines. Now it is time to launch a new family of instruments as requirements have changed, additional parameters need for testing and last but not least technology has improved over the years.

We at Borgwaldt KC are very pleased to introduce the new family of desk top instruments to measure physical parameters on cigarettes, cigars and filter rods.
At the beginning the family will include instruments for determination of:

• Hardness
• Moisture/ Density
• Size
• Weight
• Carbon content

This new generation of standalone instruments is designed to accommodate cigarettes, filter rods and machine made cigars with a length between 58 and 150 mm and diameters ranging from 5 to 10 mm.

The entire family uses the same basic unit, while only the measuring module differs from instrument type to instrument type. Users consequently benefit from having identical operating systems in the laboratory resulting in a reduced variety and stock level of spares and consumables

The instruments are equipped with a hopper offering a capacity of approx. 250 samples. The samples are separated automatically from the hopper and transported to the measurement position by a linear drive. Precise positioning of the sample in the measuring unit is therefore possible. After measurement the samples are transported to a 2-way sorting device. The instruments support single or group measurements.

The machines are controlled with a new designed control unit and offer USB port as well as ethernet connection for fast and easy data transmission and handling.

Some facts about family members  at a glance:
• Hardness Tester H10 offers possibility to perform measurement according to Filtrona, Sodim or Borgwaldt hardness. With it’s new hardness module the instrument automatically compensates for friction and insures to always measure with the desired load weight.

• Moisture Tester M10 supports moisture and density mean values as well as profiles.

• Size Tester S10 measures diameter/ circumference/ ovality on multiple points of the sample

The first instruments will be available by end of 2009. Please don’t hesitate to contact Borgwaldt KC for detailed information about the new family of desktop instruments.
We look very much forward to serving you!
