100 %Vent-Blocking holders, now available for the rotary smoking machines RM200A, RM20H and RM20D

31.03.2010

There are no absolute yields for a cigarette, as the results always depend on the parameters used in the smoking machine. The ISO method for machine smoking demands for a puff volume of 35ml with a frequency of 60 sec. This parameters, been set in the 1960`s, are the basis of legislation for the measurement of cigarettes in many parts of the world including Europe. Since the 60’s they remained unchanged.

During, in the last years these parameters are discussed extensively, which lead to  machine smoking methods for cigarette testing that utilize even more intense settings (e.g. puff volume, 55 ml, puff interval 30 sec, puff duration 2 sec) as well as blocking of ventilation holes during smoking.

In order to be prepared for smoking under this intense conditions, Borgwaldt KC has developed special holders for 100% blocking  the ventilation holes in the cigarette filter. The Borgwaldt KC Vent-Blocking holder.

The Borgwaldt KC Vent blocking holders cover the filter ventilation holes located in the range of 9 mm up to 16 mm from the butt end. So no more time consuming taping of the cigarettes is required.

The extended cap can easily be mounted to the existing cigarette holder. Apart from this, the inner parts of the cigarette holder, consisting of 6 standard labyrinth seals and a spacer, needs to be replaced as well.
Alternatively, a spare smoking ring can be equipped with Vent Blocking holders. If the operator needs to smoke with different smoking regimes, the smoke ring can then easily be swapped.

The holder can be used for all smoking machines of the new generation, such as RM200A, RM20H, RM20D and LM20X.
We are happy to provide you with additional information, offers or clarify questions concerning this option and look forward to hear from you very soon.
