"Heibofol" tobacco support foil - a specialty developed by Borgwaldt - consists essentially of tobacco and incorporates, as a support component, a wafer-thin fleece – manufactured using a special process – made of purified, natural cellulose of the same kind found in natural tobacco leaves. This makes the finished tobacco foil more resistant to tearing and more stable.
During manufacturing of the tobacco foil, this backing fleece is coated with a watery suspension of ground tobacco and dried. After this operation, the tobacco foil can be perforated to adjust the draw resistance.
In terms of analytic composition, the tobacco foil very closely approximates natural tobacco (the proportion of tobacco in the standard foil exceeds 75%, one requirement for declaration as tobacco according to the German Tobacco Ordinance). The tobacco foil can be used as a wrapper or binder for cigars and cigarillos.
By virtue of its high resistance to tearing, the foil is suitable for use instead of cigarette paper in "cigarette makers". Product specification "Heibofol" (PDF)
